Start Your Home Business Rolling
I’ve been reading and thoroughly enjoying Michael Masterson’s book “Ready Fire Aim.” While it’s directed solely to the online home based business arena, it does have a wealth of practical information that new and experienced home business entrepreneurs can use daily. Home based businesses have a failure rate in excess of 90%. One of the biggest reasons for this are the budding entrepreneurs who start a home business but crumble under the pressure when they don’t see instant results. Masterson talks a great deal about this in the book and uses a simple but excellent metaphor to describe the symptom. Keep this metaphor in mind when you begin your entrepreneurial venture. “Imagine your challenge as an immense train, sitting dead still on a set of shiny new tracks that lead directly -- and with a slight downward slope – to a Golden City. That city is waiting to welcome you as its newest citizen and shower you with its golden benefits. YOU JUST HAVE TO GET IT MOVING!” Almost all new businesses take more effort than you might have anticipated to get it rolling. But once you get them moving, thinks will get easier. I always tell my new partners to not even think about joining me if they are not willing to dedicate a minimum of one year to their business. Keep reminding yourself that as you get your “train” moving down the track you can take some of the pressure off yourself and allow the train to move itself forward under its own momentum. These are simple words but the advice is sound. Always focus on your long-term goals and remember you have a six and possibly a multiple six figure income waiting for you if you persevere. Do what it takes to learn your business and refuse to give up. The reward is a live of complete freedom. Go for it!
